Harriet Defford, Viscountess Garvestone
+ description: Lady's Court Dress to 1820
This lady is uncomfortably attired in the hooped court gown prescribed by Queen Charlotte. She has done her best with the unbecoming style; the drapings of her Florence satin skirts are accentuated with large tassels of Tussore silk. She wears the obligatory headdress of feathers attached to a bandeau with lappets pendant at the back. A double stranded necklace of diamonds completes her costume.
